Another River Flows was a phenomenal stage play production that recently performed to rave reviews at limited engagements around the Lehigh Valley. This play produced by Touch-Tone Theater included talented artists from the Lehigh Valley describing stories of life and struggles in the Allentown, Bethlehem & Easton Afro-American communities.
At the preview performance in Easton’s 3rd St. Alliance Auditorium local producer writer & director Vincent E. Kee was so impressed with some of the artists in the production he auditioned & selected 4 of the members to join the national touring musical “Sonny’s Place…..The Greatest Jam Session That Never Happened”.
Since 2002 “Sonny’s Place” has performed over 175 times in supper club theaters & performing art centers all over the country. This professionally produced production is a show -case of artists portraying an assortment of some of the greatest jazz swing & blues legends of all time.
The artists Vincent E. Kee selected from the production “Another River Flows” now starring in Sonny’s Place include Erica Baxter (Allentown Pa) portraying the legendary Billie Holiday, Willie Ross (Bethlehem) Portraying the legendary Satchmo Louie Armstrong, Bernice Smith (Allentown) portraying the legendary Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Givens (Bethlehem) portraying the legendary band leader Cab Calloway.
Rounding off the cast Leisha Givens (Easton) portrays the legendary Sarah Vaughan Audrey Mcclough (Poconos) portrays the legendary comedianne Moms Mabley & producer Vincent E. Kee portrays the legendary band leader Count Bassie!!!
Ex Heavy-weight boxing champ Larry Holmes is assisting Sonny’s Place to premiere at The Hilton Resort & Casino in Atlantic City in the fall 2008.
Excerpts from “Sonny’s Place {with the new cast} will be performed at Larry Holmes Ringside Supper Club Theater 91 Larry Holmes Drive Easton PA July 20th 2008. The festivities also include a fashion show with models showcasing vintage style clothes provided by Drop Me A Line Costume Shop (Allentown PA) & Buffet dinner provided by Ringside Restaurant.
Tickets are $35.00 in advance & $40.00 at the door the day of the event.
All proceeds for this event are forwarded to BMH Cancer Awareness Group of Lehigh Valley.
