First Woman to Sue Flint, Michigan is Fatally Shot

Sasha Bell - Flint

Sasha Avona Bell, the 19-year-old mother that was the first person to sue Flint, Michigan after her baby son was diagnosed with lead poisoning, was shot to death along with a second woman, Sacorya Reed, last week in the Ridgecrest Village apartment complex— allegedly by a spurned lover identified as Malek Thornton — while her 16-month-old son Matthew was in the apartment, according to the Flint Police Department.

“Sasha was a lovely young woman who cared deeply for her family, and especially for her young child,” her attorney, Corey M. Stern, said, according to MLive. “Her tragic and senseless death has created a void in the lives of so many people that loved her. Hopefully, her child will be lifted up by the love and support from everyone who cared deeply for Sasha.”

Meanwhile, according to a separate MLlive report, the community has been reeling since learning of the women’s deaths, which occurred two days after a mother and her 9-year old son were also killed in town.
