Morgan Freeman death hoax spreads on Facebook
According to internet research the hoax of Morgan Freeman’s death originated back in 2010 when it was said to have been purportedly posted by CNN. On December 17, 2010 CBS New reports that The CNN news network had posted a statement on Twitter denying it was the source of the misinformation, saying, “CNN did not report Morgan Freeman death. Rumor is false. CNN will aggressively investigate this hoax.”
Rumors of the actor’s alleged demise gained traction again on Tuesday June 7, 2016 after a ‘R.I.P. Morgan Freeman’ Facebook page attracted nearly one million of ‘likes’. Those who read the ‘About’ page were given a believable account of the American actor’s passing stating:
“At about 11 a.m. ET on Tuesday (June 07, 2016), our beloved actor Morgan Freeman passed away. Morgan Freeman was born on June 1, 1937 in Memphis. He will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page.”
Freeman obviously disproved the hoax rumor when he appeared in the 2015 movie, “The Last Knights.” To date Morgan is still very much alive and Ironically probably remains on his quest for answers about life after death as noted in the 2016 six episode series “The Story of God” Featuring Freeman on the National Geographic channel.
